How to Prepare for Installation

A proper, professional installation is crucial to the life and performance of your carpet. Knowing what to expect and how to prepare will make for a smooth installation process. Consider these tips as you prepare to have your new carpet installed.

Before the Work Begins

You have made your flooring selection and the staff will now take care of the basics. We will send out our estimator to measure your space and determine how to minimize waste to maximize your carpet.

We will book in your installation with a local professional installer who has the necessary experience and skills.

Talk to The Estimator

It is important to speak to the estimator and determine exactly what you are being quoted for and what you need to have ready on the day of installation. The installers will need use of your electricity to power their tools as well as an area to work from.

Do I Move Furniture and Existing Floor Coverings?

At the time of your measure you will be asked a number of questions that will help determine the total of your costs. Questions such as – Do you want the installers to move your furniture? Do you want the installers to remove your existing flooring? etc.

If you have opted to have the furniture moved by the installers you will still need to move fragile and breakable items, empty drawers, disconnect and move computers and electrical items. It is best to have this completed the day before to negate any delays in the installation.

If you are having the existing flooring removed and the furniture moved by the installers, your job is to wait and enjoy the end product! The removal of trims and mouldings and the checking of door clearances can be discussed with the estimator at the time of your onsite measure.
